Demi Lovato thanks her fans and friends after dropping teaser for tell-all documentary

A teaser for Demi Lovato’s upcoming YouTube documentary series Dancing With The Devil dropped on Wednesday, and it gave an eye-opening glimpse at how close to death the pop star came when she overdosed on drugs in 2018.

Within hours of its release, a slew of fans, friends and celebrities had taken to her social media platforms to commend her for sharing such intimate details about her struggles and ultimate story of survival.

As those comments kept coming in, Lovato shared a heartfelt thank you on Instagram to all the people who have showered her with love and support.

‘I had three strokes. I had a heart attack. My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes,’ Lovato confessed about her opioid overdose at her LA mansion in July 2018, in a clip from the upcoming four-part docuseries.

Referring to the overdose, her substance abuse, and mental health struggles through her young life, the Sober singer compared her resiliency to that of a cat with nine lives: ‘I’ve had a lot of lives, like my cat. You know, I’m on my ninth life.’

The nearly three-minute teaser trailer for Dancing With The Devil also features scenes from her childhood, her rise to the big stage of pop stardom, backstage footage, and intimate interviews with those closest her life.

A seemingly endless number of supportive comments from some of her 99.1million Instagram fans and followers, following the release of the DWTD teaser, included plenty of red heart emojis and ‘I love you’ posts.  

‘Hoooooolllly s**t . This trailer deserves an Oscar,’ wrote one fan, while another shared, ‘WOW. I got the chills. Love you so much.’

Another common sentiment was people sharing how ‘proud’ they were of Lovato for telling her story with such honesty.

Sounding humbled by the overwhelming response, Lovato shared a short statement on her Instagram Story, thanking everyone for the kind words.

‘I can’t express the gratitude I feel for all the love and support I’ve gotten today,’ she began. ‘It’s still hard to feel worthy of so much love but I’m working on it and letting some of that love sink in makes this process so much easier.’

She ended by adding, ‘So thank you for being apart of this journey with me. I love you all.’  

Around the same time, the New Mexico native, 28, shared another comment about all the tears of joy she has been shedding.

‘It’s actually hard not to just walk around crying tears of gratitude — and normally I WOULD but this face was painted by @makeupbymario and I just gotta hold it together until I’m thru working.’

Dancing With The Devil premieres on YouTube on March 23.
