Demi Lovato mourns the death of her grandfather and says ‘it hurts’ that her family can’t have a funeral amid the COVID-19 pandemic

Demi Lovato has revealed her maternal grandfather, Perry Hart, has passed away, following years of health issues. 

The 27-year-old took to social media to share a series of photos of her grandpa and said that despite grieving his death, it was also painful she wouldn’t be able to have a proper funeral for him for some time, amid the pandemic.  

‘Woke up to the news that my Grandpa Perry passed away early this morning,’ she began the lengthy post.

‘He’s been sick for a couple years now so although I’m relieved he is out of pain, it still hurts to think our family won’t get to say goodbye with a proper funeral for a while. But that’s the reality during this pandemic.’ 

Demi continued: ‘This man loved God FIERCELY and was one of the best preacher’s I’ve ever had the honor in witnessing spread the word of God.’

‘I love you Grandpa. I’m sorry we didn’t take more pictures together but I have so many memories to make me smile until we meet again someday. Rest easy. Love you. ❤️.’

Demi was inundated with supportive messages from fans and friends after making the post. 

The I’m Ready singer’s mom also commented, writing: ‘Our memories with him are better than pictures. #RIP Chief.’

Demi has spent much of the pandemic keeping fans updated on what’s been going on in her life, via social media. 

Monday saw the former Disney star share a fresh-faced selfie on her Instagram.

The solo pic follows a series of snaps that she shared to her Instagram on Sunday in which she’s packing on the PDA with boyfriend Max Ehrich, 28. 

The pair larked around as they posed for selfies in the front seats of their car with Demi pulling faces for the camera before getting distracted by Max’s lips.

Wearing a white T-shirt and narrow sunglasses, Demi kept snapping selfies as she and Max smooched.

She tied her raven tresses back from her face and showed off a pair of statement heart-shaped earrings.

Max wore a beanie and a purple top as he puckered up for his girlfriend, before kissing her on her cheek as she turned back to face the camera. 

The pair have been dating since around March 2020.
