Former Today show host Deborah Knight has harvested a massive haul of avocados from the backyard of her Sydney home.
The 47-year-old revealed to listeners of her 2GB afternoon radio show that she lopped dozens of large avocados off a fruitful tree in the yard.
Deborah shared an Instagram post on Saturday that showed 22 avocados along with a cricket ball – to compare the sizes.

She told her audience: ‘Now I hit the jackpot over the weekend, I’m sitting on a gold mine at my place. I’ve got an avocado tree in the backyard and it’s pretty good as well.
‘We bought the house – my husband and I – a couple of years ago and there was a well-established avocado and mango tree in the backyard, in the middle of Sydney.’
She explained that the fruit was so high up that they they had to climb up onto the shed and use a telescope with trimmers to get them.

‘We couldn’t get to all of them, but we pulled off about 20 avocados. We shared them with the neighbours, but we’re wondering what we can do with the surplus,’ she said.

Jane also suggested a few avocado ripen hacks – including putting them in a paper bag on their own or using a vegetable peeler to cut them into ribbons.
