David Warner and Steve Smith arrive in Sydney after returning from the Indian Premier League

Steve Smith and David Warner were spotted arriving back in Australia on Thursday after returning home from the Indian Premier League.

The cricketers flew into Sydney from the United Arab Emirates after spending more than two months abroad playing tournaments.

The sportsmen were escorted out of the airport by police, before entering into a mandatory two-week hotel quarantine.

Both Steve, 31, and David wore face masks as they left the airport, with each cricketer pushing their own trolley loaded up with luggage.

David, 34, emerged from his flight dressed in light blue denim shorts, which he paired with a black jumper.

He also wore black sneakers and a pale blue baseball cap as he balanced his trolley, which was piled high with luggage.

The batsman was trailed by a police officer as he walked down a ramp, before loading his luggage onto a bus and being driven away for quarantine.

Meanwhile, Steve opted for black shorts and a white T-shirt, and rounded out his ensemble with a pair of black sneakers.

He was seen loading his guitar onto the bus, after previously sharing videos of himself playing the instrument in his hotel room.

In a post on Instagram back in August, ahead of the tour, David wrote a sweet goodbye message for his wife of five years, Candice Warner, and their three daughters, Ivy, Indi and Isla.

‘A very different goodbye for us this time, it’s been an unbelievable time at home with the family and I am going to miss you and the girls very much,’ he wrote.

After arriving at his hotel for quarantine on Thursday, David revealed Candice, 35, had sent him a care package, sharing a photo of it on Instagram.

‘It’s fair to say my wife knows what I’d like in quarantine @candywarner1 thanks darling and also even snuck some @rockitapple in,’ he captioned the post.

Candice commented: ‘I wanted to box the kids up and sneak them in to see you but I didn’t think that would be good parenting. Love you’.

Meanwhile, Steve shared a photo of himself in personal protective equipment after arriving in the UAE in September.

‘A different way to arrive at this years IPL but excited to be here,’ he captioned the post.

‘As IPL 2020 comes to a close I want to say thanks to everybody involved at the @rajasthanroyals,’ he began in a post on Instagram. 

‘This year didn’t quite go to plan but as always there is plenty to take away and learn from. 

‘The fact that we were able to play some cricket and hopefully put some smiles on people’s faces means a lot’.
