David Beckham reflects on loving grandparents as he prepares to honour veterans for Remembrance Day

David Beckham has spoken endearingly about his grandparents ahead of Remembrance Day.

Visiting the Chelsea Pensioners in London this week, to support the Poppy Appeal, David, 45, recounted what the annual occasion means to him.

His grandfather Joseph West – who fought in the Second World War – instilled the ethos of Remembrance Day into a young David when he was a child.

He told The Sun: ‘Remembrance Day is always special to me because my grandfather was in the Scots Guards and it was always a big deal in our household,’ ‘When the poppies came out my granddad was the first to get us all one.

‘He would say, “There’s your poppy. Wear it to school.” It was a really exciting moment. It is so important we remember the sacrifice that our Armed Forces have made for us, as individuals, as families, and as a country.’

David – who shares children Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 15, and Harper, nine, with wife Victoria, 46 – added: ‘I want to pass it on to my kids and I hope they will pass it on to their kids.

Meanwhile wife Victoria has been planning her working-from-home wardrobe for Lockdown Part II – by busting out the elasticated waistbands.

But while the majority of the population will most likely be throwing on their sweatpants and jeggings, the fashion maven will be wearing nothing of the sort.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, VB filmed herself in one of her Victoria by Victoria Beckham designs – a vertically striped polo neck jumper with a matching midi skirt.
