Dashboard Confessional singer Chris Carrabba reveals he was in a ‘severe’ motorcycle accident but he expects to make a full recovery

Dashboard Confessional singer Chris Carrabba was involved in a ‘severe’ motorcycle accident last weekend, though he’s expected to fully recover.

The official Dashboard Confessional Twitter posted a photo of Carrabba, 45, resting in a hospital bed with a face mask covering his mouth and nose.

They also shared what the band called, ‘an important message from Chris,’ where he explained what happened on June 6.

The message, dated ‘June 11, 2020, 2:49 PM’ began, ‘Hi friends on June 6th I was in a motorcycle accident.’

‘My injuries were severe but not life threatening. I owe the amazing doctors, nurses and medical team treating me my endless gratitude,’ he continued.

‘I am determined to make a full recovery, but I have surgeries and months of rehab to come,’ Carrabba added, though he didn’t specify what was injured.

He made it clear, though, despite his injuries, that he has, ‘not lost sight of the social issues at hand and even in the condition I’m in I find it important to state that I stand with black lives matter.’

‘In the near future it is liekly I will not be able to follow the news as much as I normally would,’ he added.

‘If you don’t hear from me on critical social issue I trust that you will know where I stand,’ Carrabba concluded.

Dashboard Confessional was formed in 1999 and is comprised of Carrabba on lead vocals, rhythm guitar and piano and Scott Schoenbeck on bass as the remaining founding members.

Armon Jay joined the group in 2015 on lead guitar and backing vocals and Chris Kamrada on drums and percussion joining in 2017.

The group has released seven albums, starting with 2000’s The Swiss Army Romance, with their latest release Crooked Shadows in 2018.

The group performed on MTV Unplugged in 2002 after their second album The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most.

That same year the group won the MTV2 Award at the Video Music Awards for the music video for Screaming Infidelities.

The group released a greatest hits album, The Best Ones of the Best Ones in January, and were slated to go on a 20th Anniversary tour that was ultimately canceled due to COVID-19.
