Dancing On Ice couple Alexander Demetriou and Carlotta Edwards have been hit by claims that their three-year marriage has collapsed after he was paired with Love Island star Maura Higgins.
A source has claimed that the couple are close to announcing their separation, after Alex became ‘besotted’ with Maura, 29, during their time skating on the ITV show, leaving Carlotta, 34, furious.
It comes just days after it was claimed that Maura split from her Love Island boyfriend Curtis Pritchard after rows over her friendship with skater Alexander, 29.

A source told The Sun On Sunday that the cracks first appeared in Alexander and Carlotta’s marriage in 2019, when he was paired with Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton.
Carlotta was reportedly left jealous of their friendship, and thought she and Alexander had overcome the difficult patch when that series came to an end.
But things only got worse this year when Alexander was paired with Maura.
It was also claimed that Alexander confided in Maura about his marital problems, even after the pair was eliminated from the show several weeks ago, with their chemistry catching the eye of several Dancing On Ice co-stars.

Alexander and Carlotta are reportedly trying to put on a united front, but once the currently series is over will allegedly begin announcing their separation.
The source said: ‘They haven’t been happy together in months, and Alex has been confiding in Maura about their personal problems, which hasn’t helped.
‘He is besotted with her, and feels she is a much better fit for him than Carlotta, who is livid she is being pushed to one side.
‘Their marriage seems to be broken beyond repair, and friends and family are now expecting them to make that publicly known once Dancing On Ice is over.’

Despite claims of the couple’s split, Alexander and Carlotta both appeared on each other’s social media as recently as last month.
The couple are yet to comment on the claims, but a representative for Dancing On Ice declined to comment. A representative for Maura Higgins has been contacted for comment.

It was also reported last month that Carlotta had been left troubled by their ‘close relationship’ and was worried Maura ‘had turned her husband’s head.’
A source told The Sun: ‘Maura spent hours and hours with Alex in rehearsals for weeks and they have got really close.
‘They have grown very friendly and it’s not gone unnoticed with the rest of the cast and crew — or Carlotta.

This report came after Maura was spotted having a catch-up with her Dancing On Ice partner Alexander on Tuesday following her split from Curtis.
The ‘upset’ reality star was seen grabbing a coffee with the professional skater in Chelmsford, Essex on Tuesday.
Earlier this week Maura and Curtis were also hit by claims that they had secretly split three months earlier.
The former grid girl allegedly felt pressured to stay in her relationship with the professional dancer, 24, in a bid to boost their profile, despite only announcing their split on Monday – claims that Curtis strongly denies.

According to a source speaking to The Sun, Maura and Curtis’ relationship turned sour following their row at the National Television Awards in January.
The couple were reportedly told that if they stayed together they could make millions.
The source said: ‘Maura felt pressured to stick with him. They had booked jobs together, parties they had to attend.
‘When they met in Love Island it was genuine. But when the showbiz treadmill started on the outside, it was a sham.’
