Cricket legend Shane Warne relists his luxurious $7.4 million Melbourne mansion

Inside Shane Warne’s $7.4million mansion – boasting five bedrooms, a pool and wine cellar – as it returns to the market after the cricket legend postponed the sale due to COVID-19

Cricket legend Shane Warne has relisted his $7.4 million Melbourne mansion after  suspending plans to sell the home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The sports star, 50, purchased the home in Brighton for $5.4 million in April 2018 in a bid to downsize from his previous $20 million Melbourne mansion.

He listed the home on the market with an asking price between $6.8 and $7.4million earlier this year but his plans to sell the house were put on hold due to COVID-19, the Herald Sun reported.

The home, which includes a wine cellar and tasting room, was going to be auctioned on April 5.

The luxurious house has five bedrooms and three bathrooms, a large pool and spa, an impressive basement theatre room, a bar, and an underground garage with space for four cars.

The ground floor has a spacious open kitchen and family space, the first guest bedroom, utility and powder room, as well as a formal dining and living room.

The family space also leads out to the pool and spa with a deck and alfresco dining area – perfect for outdoor entertaining.

The home also features a spacious study, a deluxe master bedroom with spa ensuite decorated with Doric columns, and a balcony.

The basement floor houses a theatre and a lavish bar, as well as the fifth bedroom with an ensuite and sitting room.

The Australian athlete is not the first sports star to have owned the property, with AFL player Matthew Lloyd previously living in the lavish residence.

Earlier this year, JP Dixon Real Estate director Jonathan Dixon confirmed to realestate.com.au that a number of parties were interested in the property.

‘At the moment things are fairly skinny, but there are people who love it,’ Mr Dixon said at the time.

‘The market itself is still moving along, there are people out there saying that stocks have gone and they’re getting nothing from the bank, so let’s stick to property.’

‘It’s a terrific home and it’s got some hi-tech features,’ Mr Dixon said.
