Courtney Love on Miley Cyrus’ ‘sweet’ cover of her 1994 Hole song Doll Parts: ‘I’m touched!’

Grunge rock icon Courtney Love just publicly revealed what she really thought of pop star Miley Cyrus’ recent cover of Hole’s song Doll Parts during last Wednesday’s Howard Stern Show.

The 28-year-old former Disney Channel star was nearly 2 when the track was originally released in 1994, but she impressively used her three-octave mezzo-soprano pipes to belt the chorus.

‘Has Courtney heard you do this?’ Stern asked before Cyrus’ performance. 

‘No one’s ever heard me do it. I’ve never heard me do it until yesterday [rehearsing]. It’s just for you.’

The 54-year-old Golden Globe nominee first reached out to Miley last Friday by mysteriously commenting ‘Dms’ on one of her Instagram posts.

Love (born Harrison) then posted the mullet-rocking millennial’s entire performance on her own Instagram account on Monday calling it ‘a sweet version’ in the caption.

By Tuesday, Courtney added ‘Miley Cyrus was very sweet and I’m touched’ for introducing her Billboard hit to a new generation, and she gave some background information on it.       

The four-time Grammy nominee revealed she wrote Doll Parts ‘in 20 minutes’ while staying with a friend in Cambridge, MA back in November 1991.

‘It was about a boy, whose band had just left town, who I’d been sleeping with, who I heard was sleeping with 2 other girls,’ Love explained.

‘It was my way of saying, “You’re a f***ing idiot if you don’t choose ME, and here is all the desire and fury and love that I feel for you.” Good songs don’t always come in 20 minutes but the force was strong and that one did. Anyway I married that guy.’

Courtney included a 1991 clip of her late husband Kurt Cobain announcing she was ‘the best f*** in the world’ while appearing on UK show The Word, which she called ‘vulgar’ yet ‘really sweet.’ 

The Nirvana frontman took his own life with a self-inflicted shotgun wound, age 27, in 1994 after two years of marriage.

Kurt and the five-time rehabbed rocker’s only child – daughter Frances Bean – is now 28 years old and scored a 2015 Emmy nod for producing his documentary, Cobain: Montage of Heck.

Meanwhile, Miley’s seventh studio album Plastic Hearts debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart on the list dated December 12.

Back in 2013, Love told Fashionista that Cyrus had ‘a c**p stylist’ but that she provided her with ‘endless laughs at the VMAs’ that year.
