Courtney Love, 56, thanks the NHS as she gets COVID-19 vaccine in London

She left the sunny climes of Los Angeles to relocate to London in the autumn of 2019, to focus on writing her book and recording a new album.

And Courtney Love, 56, shared a snap of herself reaping benefits many in the English capital could only dream of on Sunday, as she received the COVID-19 vaccine.

With the elderly, extremely vulnerable and healthcare workers currently among those who are eligible for the jab, the star took to Instagram to show herself in the clinic.

The Hole singer, widow of Kurt Cobain, looked chic in a black ensemble that included a dress, stockings and matching heels, while she wore a face mask.

Rounding out her look with a blue protective face mask, she turned her face away from the masked nurse administering the shot to her upper arm.

Captioning the image, she wrote: ‘Got vax, in Chelsea, thank you @nhsenglandldn.’

Since the vaccine was rolled out in January, only the top priority groups have been called in for the jab, including the elderly, ‘clinically extremely vulnerable people’ under the age of 70, and health and social care workers.

With current government scheduling, the 2.4 million UK residents who fall into Courtney’s 55-59 age bracket should be expecting to be called up for the vaccine closer to April.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Courtney Love for comment.

Courtney relocated to London on October 18, 2019, and spoke with the NME just over a year later about her decision to make the big move.

She said: ‘I’ve lived here at several points in my life and every time I left the UK, I’d get sad. And on top of that you know, for a while I actually did not pick up my guitar.

‘I stopped having the kind of relationship that you need to have with the guitar to write good guitar songs. So, I came here to focus on writing my book and my record.’

Explaining her love for the UK, the star went on to share that she briefly lived in Liverpool as a 16-year-old, before making her way down to London.

She recalled: ‘I realised – you haven’t got nearly the Thought Police you think you do compared to in Portland or parts of LA. I’m allowed to dissent here, which I haven’t felt comfortable doing recently elsewhere.

‘Being able to have a real dialogue and read all sorts of opinions… it made me fall in love with the UK even more.’

Last month, Courtney claimed that her two-week fling with Steve Coogna, 55, back in 2005 was ‘one of life’s great shames’ along with crack in an Instagram post.

Sharing a picture of herself in a car, she wrote: ‘A happy Australian cruising around, Australia… America’s Sweetheart having her revenge, on, Melbourne? AMAZING!

‘Maybe one day I won’t hate that record. It has some good songs. But like Steve Coogan, or crack, it’s one of my life’s great shames.

‘Just the period, sloppiness, men, money, drugs, nightmare…. although Chateau Miraval (where we made it) doesn’t suck.

‘Thanks to my fave Aussie @joedadic .. I’m oddly … strangely satisfied with this…’

Courtney, who was married to the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, previously told ES that she only knew Coogan as his role as record boss Tony Wilson and had not heard of his Alan Partridge role.

She said: ‘I thought he was Tony Wilson in 24 Hour Party People — someone I’d always had a daddy thing for.

‘I had never seen Alan Partridge. But I was in a band with people who did know Alan Partridge, so I had to make a record with them constantly saying, “Back of the net!”

She admitted: ‘All it was, was a couple of sh**s at the Sunset Marquis and I did not know he was Alan Partridge.’

Soon after the fling, it was reported that Love was expecting Coogan’s baby when she told the News of the World: ‘Yes, I am pregnant with Steve’s baby, but I’d rather not talk about our relationship.’

The singer was admitted to rehab after that to kick her ongoing drug habit, and later released an official statement.

Her statement read: ‘Courtney Love wishes to make it clear that she denies recent stories suggesting she is pregnant or has had a relationship with Steve Coogan.

‘She confirms that she and Steve are good friends and have met a few times in Los Angeles.’

His spokesperson said: ‘He is astonished by this. It is ridiculous.’

Piers Morgan, 55, enquired about the story in an interview with Coogan for GQ.

The actor said: ‘Take the stuff with Courtney Love, for example. I was more fed up with people texting me saying, “Are you all right?” than I was by anything else.

‘Of course I was all right. I was fine. Just go away all of you.’

Piers asked him: ‘How true was the Courtney story, then?’

He replied: ‘Some of it was true, most of it was b*****ks. To borrow the title of the film, it was 20 per cent c***, and 80 per cent bull.’

Courtney previously also told the Sunday Times that she stopped taking cocaine after the fling.

She said: ‘That was a two-week fling and we didn’t even exchange numbers at the end of it. That was my last dance with cocaine.’

‘When it comes to things like opiates, or cocaine, or even tequila, it’s hard. I love opiates and I went to the dentist recently and he gave me whatever I wanted. I said, “I think I’m in love with you.”

‘I hadn’t gotten that high in years and I was allowed to do it legally because I had to get this molar fixed.’
