Corrie’s Ellie Leach admits she ‘didn’t imagine’ she’d still be playing Faye Windass after 10 years

She first stepped foot onto the cobbles as a wide-eyed nine-year-old back in 2011, playing the adopted daughter of Eddie and Anna Windass.

And Ellie Leach admitted that she ‘definitely didn’t imagine’ portraying Coronation Street’s Faye Windass 10 years later as she remarked: ‘I feel like I’ve been there my whole life.’

In a new interview, the actress, 19, reflected on her decade-long role and said she hopes she stays in her job ‘forever’.

During her 10 years on the Manchester-based soap, Ellie has been part of some huge storylines, most notably her character Faye giving birth to a daughter aged just 12.

While most recently, she’s had to endure the a sexual assault at the hands of her sleazy boss Ray Crosby. 

Looking back on her time on the show, Ellie told The Mirror: ‘It is crazy to think it is 10 years. It has gone so fast but I also feel like I have been there my whole life.

‘For what time I can remember, Corrie has been my life. As a child, you just can’t believe it. You don’t really know at that age what is happening. Really surreal.’

She added: ‘I definitely didn’t imagine I would still be here 10 years later. I am the type who doesn’t like to think too far into the future. I hope I am there forever.’

The beauty gushed that being part of the Corrie cast is an ‘amazing job’ and she ‘loves’ being there.

And while joining the iconic soap at such a young age may have been daunting, Ellie luckily had the guidance of her older cousin Brooke Vincent, 28, who plays Sophie Webster. 

Ellie told the publication that Brooke – who is currently on maternity leave – was quick to offer her support and advice after learning that she’d got the role, telling Ellie that she was there for her if she needed anything.   

With regular appearances on prime time TV,  Ellie has become a household name, but she insists that she’s been ‘kept grounded’ by her mum and dad.

She went on to say that she ‘wouldn’t be any different’ thanks to the ‘guidance’ from her parents.

Adding that she has her head firmly ‘screwed on’ thanks to growing up in the TV industry and working with adults from a young age. 

Meanwhile, there’s some dramatic times times ahead for Ellie’s character Faye amid the repercussions on her recent attack on Adam Barlow.

The waitress wrongly lashed out at Adam think he was Ray, resulting in the lawyer ending up seriously ill in hospital. 

Her brother Gary Windass took the blame for the attack, but a guilty Faye later handed herself into the police and confessed the truth. 

But what does the future hold for Faye? Viewers will just have to wait and see.
