Katy Perry is reportedly ‘in lockdown’ in her Sydney hotel as a safety precaution as coronavirus anxiety grips Australia.

The American singer, 35, is believed to have flown into the city after performing a bushfire relief concert in rural Victoria on Wednesday night.

Katy, who is expecting her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom, was apparently scheduled to do press interviews on Thursday, but cancelled as a safety precaution.

A source told Daily Mail Australia the decision to cancel her press commitments was made after a ‘coronavirus scare’ among record label publicity staff – but this hasn’t been confirmed.

A celebrity photographer, who asked to remain anonymous, also claimed that Katy didn’t leave her hotel all day on Thursday.

Despite this claim, she did upload Instagram Story post about 4pm (AEST) from Circular Quay that showed the word ‘WASH’ written in the sky.

She captioned this: ‘RN [right now] in Sydney.’

Katy hasn’t been pictured in Australia since her concert at the FIGHT ON bushfire recovery concert in Bright, Victoria, on Wednesday.

During that performance, she was memorably gifted roll of toilet paper wrapped in a red bow by a fan – a joke about the toilet paper buying craze among Australians.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Katy Perry’s representatives for comment.

More to come.
