Claire Danes looks lost in thought as she bundles up during a solo outing in New York

The eight and final season of her hit show Homeland aired earlier this month.

And Claire Danes appeared lost in thought as she stepped out for a solo stroll in West Village, New York on Monday.

Claire teamed her outerwear with dark grey skinny jeans and black lace-up boots.

While she accessorised with a warm scarf in hues of grey and a tan and cream cross-body bag.

The Hollywood star allowed her blonde tresses to hang loosely on her shoulders, while she sported a make-up free visage for the outing.

Claire appeared deep in thought during her walk, which comes weeks after the final season of Homeland aired, in which she played CIA operative Carrie Mathison.

Speaking about Homeland to CBS earlier this month, Claire said it was hard to see the end of the show.

‘It’s a lot of feelings, it’s been almost a decade of my life. I was barely married when we started. Now we have two kids who we’ve dragged all over the planet as we’ve filmed this thing. But it’s been just a wonderful gig, it’s been life-changing.’

Talking of family life, the actress’ spouse Hugh Dancy will join her on screen. Though they didn’t share any scenes together, Claire used to go in on her day off because she loves watching her husband work.

‘My baby daddy!’ she joked, referring to their two children, sons Cyrus, seven, and Rowan, 17 months.

‘He plays not a great guy.’ She said they did not share any scenes, adding: ‘I think it’s a real blessing, because I don’t know if I would have been able to cope.’

She said in a previous interview of Dancy’s casting: ‘That was such a nice way to end the show.

‘On my days off, I would go to his set. He’s very good. I don’t exactly forget that, but we don’t talk about acting much, so it was a really nice reminder.

‘[Watching your partner do something they are really good at] is so hot.’

Claire admitted she also loves the fact her husband is a ‘big nerd’.

She told Net-A-Porter’s digital magazine Porter: ‘Hugh’s a big nerd, too. When we first started sorta-kinda-dating for real (ish), I had an ornament-making party for Christmas, and he helped organise it.

‘Then he made an ornament of cowboy paper dolls, and I thought, ‘and he crafts?’ That was it. ‘You have me for the rest of our lives.’…

‘[At Halloween] He papier-mâchéd his own hat – I’m very proud of my husband.’

While Claire has spent several years away from home working on Homeland, Hugh had long periods of time filming Hannibal in Toronto and she admitted it was ‘tough’ having a long-distance relationship and it isn’t something she wants to repeat.

She admitted: ‘That was tough. That distance is corrosive, and I’m just bad at it. And I don’t particularly want to get good at it. We learned along the way how essential it is for us to be physically together as often as possible.’
