Chuck Wicks, 40, reveals struggle with male infertility as he and wife Kasi, 36, announce they are expecting ‘miracle’ baby boy
Chuck Wicks and wife Kasi Morstad have revealed their struggle with male infertility as they announced that they are expecting a baby boy.
The 40-year-old country star and his 36-year-old wife detailed their journey to conceiving a child with People magazine on Wednesday.
The happy couple are due to welcome a baby boy in December after medical tests revealed Chuck suffered with infertility.

‘It’s just such a miracle, such a blessing,’ he said. ‘I’m thankful for amazing doctors, thankful for science.’
The couple told the publication that they had been trying to get pregnant since soon after their wedding in July 2019.
Kasi has three daughters from a previous marriage – 9-year-old Avery, 19-year-old Madison and 21-year-old Makenzie (the latter two adopted during her earlier marriage) – and Chuck had always wanted to become a father.

According to Dr. Peter Schlegel, chairman of the urology department at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York and the immediate past president of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Chuck fell into the 50 percent of men who have no known cause for infertility.
The musician said: ‘As a man the last thing you want someone to tell you is you can’t do this. It makes you feel small. It makes you feel like you’re not a man.’
The couple began pursuing in vitro fertilization (IVF) as it was the only course of treatment. Normally a single ejaculation contains 100 million sperm but his count was no move than 15.

After a few trials, Chuck was able to produce a fresh specimen which a medical team administered a stimulant for and injected a sperm each into two eggs, one of which had been successfully fertilized.
Kasi explained: ‘It was just one egg, one sperm, and it actually worked.’
The embryo was frozen and the couple waited two more months for her to prepare her body for pregnancy as genetic testing revealed the embryo was healthy.

On March 25, Kasi underwent embryo transfer as Chuck was there for support.
‘I see this incubator come in,’ he said. ‘and I just start sobbing because I knew inside that incubator was my little boy.’
No doubt the couple were revealed that they are on the way to welcoming bouncing baby boy as Chuck has come to an understanding with his medical condition: ‘It just happens so that’s the reassuring part.’

The two have also heard of a lot of similar stories with positive outcomes so they were optimistic about the process and feel blessed by the outcome.
Chuck said: ‘The fact that we had to go this route makes us realize even more how special having this child is.’
