Christian Bale has lively day hitting the waves in LA as he surfs amid state’s gradual reopening

Christian Bale is making the most of the summer weather.

The 45-year-old actor was seen surfing on a Los Angeles beach on Sunday in a black wet suit as the state gradually reopens from lockdown precautions put in place to quell the spread of the coronavirus.

The Ford v. Ferrari star, who’s also stayed physically active riding his bicycle amid the lockdown, was seen applying wax to his surfboard on the daytime outing Sunday.

The Oscar-winner sported shaggy hair and a goatee as he maneuvered his way through the waters as California has loosened its restrictions on beaches, parks and businesses in recent weeks. 

Los Angeles has also been the location of numerous demonstrations against racism and police brutality in the wake of George Floyd’s killing, with National Guard troops on Sunday beginning to leave the area as the demonstrations have remained peaceful in recent days.

The A-lister, who played Batman in 2005’s Batman Begins, 2008’s The Dark Knight and 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, is next set to return to the superhero genre playing a villainous role in the forthcoming Thor: Love And Thunder opposite Chris Hemsworth.

The actor, who is father to daughter Emmeline, 14, and son Joseph, five, with wife Sibi, 49, appears in the film’s ensemble cast that includes Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman.

Thompson in March told Entertainment Tonight, ‘Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic,’ she said, adding that she’s excited after reading the script from writer/director Taika Waititi.

While it’s first time in the MCU, Bale has shown he can play the bad guy effectively: In one of his most iconic roles, Bale portrayed serial killer Patrick Bateman in the 2000 film American Psycho leading man.
