Chrissy suffered the devastating heartbreak of a stillbirth in September while carrying the couple’s third child, son Jack.

Earlier this week, the model praised young daughter Luna, four, for her ‘incredible empathy’ after the model received her baby son’s ashes.

Chrissy said that Luna had left her speechless by thoughtfully placing a toy bear next to his ashes shortly after they were returned to the family home, describing it as an act of ’empathy.’

Taking to Instagram, the 34-year old wrote: ‘Im just thinking a lot about jack today. our house is very open about life, death, grief, everything really.

‘We try to explain things well and answer every question imaginable in a beautiful, spiritual but literal way.

‘I know this is a weird post but I just wanted to share these to always remember my incredibly empathetic little mini. life is infinitely better with her in it. I miss u, jack. we miss you a lot.’

Sharing an additional video of her daughter placing the toy and a small snack alongside Jack’s ashes, she said: ‘This is the cutest, most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

‘We just got baby jacks ashes back for there here for now with some blessed holy Thai string and Luna put a little therapy bear around him.’

‘The best part is I came down and she gave him a piece of her favourite snack – a tiny piece of Pirate’s Booty. I can’t… I don’t know, she’s amazing.’

Chrissy recently shared she was told she could have died during childbirth while recounting the loss of her son in an emotional essay for Medium.

She wrote: ‘My doctors diagnosed me with partial placenta abruption. We monitored it very closely, hoping for things to heal and stop. I bed, I bled and bled, lightly but all day, changing my own diapers every couple of hours when the blood got uncomfortable to lay in.

‘My bleeding was getting heavier and heavier. The fluid around Jack had become very low – he was barely able to float around. At some points, I swore it was so low I could lay on my back and feel his arms and legs from outside my belly.’

Chrissy was then given the devastating news that Jack ‘wouldn’t survive’, as doctors warned her that if she carried on bleeding, there was a chance she could lose her own life as well.

She added: ‘After a couple nights at the hospital, my doctor told me exactly what I knew was coming – it was time to say goodbye. He just wouldn’t survive this, and if it went on any longer, I might not either.’

Chrissy and John, who tied the knot in Italy in September of 2013, conceived Luna, four, and son Miles, two, through IVF treatment.

WHAT IS A STILLBIRTH?

A stillbirth occurs when a baby is born dead after 24 weeks of pregnancy.

If a baby dies before 24 weeks of pregnancy, it is known as a miscarriage.

Not all stillbirths can be prevented, however, not smoking or drinking, as well as not sleeping on your back and attending all antenatal appointments can reduce the risk.

What are the signs?

Signs may include the baby not moving as much as normal.

Pregnant women should contact their doctor immediately if they notice a difference to their baby’s movement.

What are the causes?

Stillbirths do not always have an obvious cause but may occur due to complications with the placenta or a birth defect.

They are also more likely to occur if women suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes or an infection that affects the baby, such as flu.

Stillbirths are more likely to occur if women are having twins or multiple pregnancies, are overweight, smoke, are over 35 or have a pre-existing condition, such as epilepsy.

What happens after a stillbirth?

If a baby has died, women may wait for their labour to start naturally or they may be induced if their health is at risk.

Bereavement support groups are available to parents who have suffered stillbirths.

Some find it helpful to name their baby or take pictures with them.
