Chris Moyles reveals his new bleached blond look

‘I think I’ve ended up looking like Gary Barlow’: Chris Moyles reveals his new bleached blond look… but admits he wanted to look like Robbie Williams

Chris Moyles stunned listeners and colleagues on Friday morning after revealing a rather drastic new look while presenting his daily breakfast radio show.

The DJ, who has already transformed his physical appearance by losing more than five stone in weight, opted to take a risk by dying his hair blond while at home with partner Tiffany Austin.

But the jury was out as to whether the risk had actually paid off after Moyles, 46, gave the striking new look its debut for the benefit of Radio X team Dominic Byrne and James Robinson.

... but he admitted it was too similar to Gary Barlow's questionable style  in the early '90s

Blond ambition: Chris Moyles stunned listeners on Friday morning after revealing a drastic blond look while presenting his daily breakfast radio show, but admitted it was a little too similar to Gary Barlow’s questionable style in the early ’90s

Pulling off his baseball cap, the presenter admitted he may well have misfired while attempting to emulate the bleached blond look favoured by Robbie Williams during his debauched appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in 1995.

‘I wanted to look like Robbie at Glastonbury,’ he admitted. ‘I think I’ve ended up looking like Gary Barlow from the Do What You Like video.’

Moyles also revealed he was initially in a state of panic after letting his girlfriend get to work on his naturally brown hair the previous day.

He added: ‘It [my hair] was at some point yesterday – I will admit and so will Tiff – canary yellow.

‘So when it was first done I went to look in the mirror and I literally went “oh my god, I don’t recognise myself. Like, I don’t recognise myself at all.” And it freaked me out, and then I kinda went “I think I like it”.

After producer James admitted it wasn’t as yellow as he thought it would be, Moyles conceded: ‘Yeah, it’s a bit whiter. It’s less Eminem, more Milkybar Kid.’

Speaking in 2018, Chris revealed that he dropped five stone in weight after overhauling overhauling his diet and fitness regime.

After years of limited exercise and a steady diet of takeaways and junk food, the DJ now credits his weight loss with running and ditching junk food.

Chris, who now presents a show on Radio X, has always been open about his battle with weight, and his fitness goals.

He told Metro in 2015 that he was trying to focus on keeping his weight at bay after kick-starting his bid to get in shape the previous year.

He explained: ‘I’m getting older. If I don’t keep fit I will be dead by the time I am 50.’

He’s also been working hard with personal trainers – and cutting down on his alcohol intake – telling The Mirror as far back as 2011: ‘I’ve got David Haye’s old trainer who kills me.

‘I’ve become obsessed [fitness]. And I watch what I eat now that I’ve had to learn to cook for myself and that takes up a lot of my time, especially if I’m not drinking, which I have been trying not to do lately.’
