Chicago-based R&B singer Ann Marie, 25, arrested in Atlanta following hotel shooting that left a man in critical condition

Chicago-based R&B singer Ann Marie has been arrested following the shooting of a man at a hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

The 25-year-old – real name Joann Marie Slater – was taken into custody December 1 after police responded to a shots fired call at the Intercontinental Buckhead Hotel.

Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, according to CBS46 in Chicago.

The male victim, 24, ‘was somewhat responsive, when officers arrived on scene and repsonded to questions,’ the affiliate reported.

He was transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition.  

According to the police report, Ann Marie claimed a gun had fallen off a table in the hotel room causing it to go off, striking the victim.

The singer, who was ‘screaming hysterically’, had to be ‘removed’ from the room.

She was booked into Fulton County Jail for possession of a firearm and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Ann Marie is best known for her 2018 song, Secret.
