He wrote: ‘Haven’t been properly tested but I most definitely have it. Felt awful yesterday but a bit better today thankfully. Seems to come and go in waves.

‘Incredibly grateful for paracetamol and @footballmanager right now. ‘And thank you for all your kind messages about the episode last night. It means the world to us. Love you all and look after yourselves x’.

Charlie told how he developed a ‘tickle’ in his throat over the weekend and also developed aches which got progressively worse.

He also awoke in the middle of the night with a high temperature and more aches which lasted for several hours.

He said: ‘Few people asking about symptoms I’ve had etc… So will quickly explain my experience so far if there’s anyone out there feeling anxious about it. ‘

‘Plus I’m really bored and have nothing better to do. Over the weekend I felt a very slight tickle in the back of my throat and started to feel achy which got worse throughout Sunday evening.

‘Then that night woke up about 2/3am with cold sweats, full body ache and high temperature. Felt like this for a good 6-8 hours and hardly slept and had an awful migraine.

‘Took some paracetamol and began to feel a lot better, so much so I was up around the house. Then began to feel worse again Monday evening with a tight chest and shortness of breath which soon faded.’

Charlie said he spent the majority of Tuesday in bed but is starting to feel better and is keeping his fingers crossed he has got through the worst of the illness.

He said: ‘Today I’ve mostly been in bed but felt okay. Temperature keeps fluctuating. Either too hot or too cold but like to think I’m over worst of it now (famous last words).’

‘Overall it’s no worse than any virus I’ve had before so don’t be getting anxious about it. The fear is in getting it, but you’ll ride it out if you do.

‘Good thing is we’re all in it together. And I had a neighbour leave some shepherds pie on my doorstep which I’m eternally grateful for. There’s some bloody humans on this planet. Love you all.’

Charlie’s suspicion he may have COVID-19 comes after Idris Elba confirmed he had tested positive for the virus and is now self-isolating.

Idris has suggested that he may have caught coronavirus from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife Sophie, 44, after the two met shortly before they both tested positive for COVID-19.

The actor , 47, revealed in a 17-minute video shared to Twitter on Tuesday night that he was exposed to the deadly disease on 4 March, the same day he posed with Sophie at the We Day UK charity event, in Wembley.

Idris said: ‘It’s hard to say when I got the disease or when I contracted COVID-19, it’s hard to say when. I will say that I know I’ve been exposed to it from March 4.

‘That’s when the person that came up positive, that was the time I got in contact with that person.

‘So essentially, I could have been positive from March 4, but it’s hard to say when I contracted someone with corona, you can contract it at anytime but my known exposure was March 4.’

Idris met Trudeau’s wife Sophie, who has also been tested positive for COVID-19, on 4 March at a We Day UK charity event, in Wembley.

Posing for photos together at the event the pair were in close proximity to each other, as well as other celebrities such as Lewis Hamilton, and attendees.
