Channel 4’s hit sitcom Friday Night Dinner will RETURN this month with a sixth series

  • The show will be back on screens from March 27 at 10pm
  • It stars Tamsin Greig, Simon Bird, Paul Ritter, Tom Rosenthal and Mark Heap
  • It’s one of Channel 4’s longest running sitcoms 

Channel 4’s Friday Night Dinner is set to return on March 27, with a sixth series.

The hit comedy series follows siblings Adam and Jonny Goodman as they return home for the titular meal with their eccentric parents.

LadBible confirmed the news on Wednesday and fans immediately took to Twitter to express their joy.

In October, the show’s creator Robert Popper had previously said that filming had begun on the show’s latest season when he shared a snap of a clapperboard from set on Twitter. 

At the time, Robert said of returning to the show: ‘I’m really looking forward to exploring new avenues with series 6. 

‘Inspector de Vries will still be working on the Rynsburger case, but this time he’s joined by new partner-in-crime, Mees Janssen, fresh out of Rotterdam Police Academy.

In a statement about the series, Kenton Allen, CEO of Big Talk Productions, said: ‘Friday Night Dinner has grown into a monster hit for Channel 4 and it’s incredibly exciting to see the audience growing every season as new viewers fall in love with the antics of the Goodman household.

‘It’s also incredible that Robert has single-handedly written and produced all 31 episodes so far, which must make him one of the most prolific comedy writer/producers working today.’

He then gushed: ‘We’re incredibly grateful to Channel 4 for letting him have another go. Fingers crossed!’

The show stars Inbetweeners actor Simon Bird, Tamsin Greig, Paul Ritter, Tom Rosenthal and Mark Heap. 

Friday Night Dinner remains one of Channel 4’s most popular show, and series five was the second-highest rated season of the series, just behind the first season, while it has attracted 1.9 million viewers per episode.
