She recently wowed with her vocal performance when celebrating the 75th VE day anniversary.

And Helen George has now revealed that she was once a backing singer for Elton John after being scouted while studying musical theatre at the Royal Academy of Music in 2005.

The Call The Midwife actress, 35, told Mirror Online: ‘He took some of us along on his tour that year, so I was a backing vocalist.

‘We went to places like the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley, really amazing places.

‘It was a magical time, we’d hang out with him and [his husband] David Furnish in the bar afterwards. They were lovely, David is so nice. It was incredible.’ 

But the mother-of-one admitted that being in spotlight so early made her ‘arrogant’ and she forgot to focus on the music.

Helen has since gone on to star in a video for Birdy’s cover of 1901 and also showcased her voice when appearing on the BBC special for the 75th VE day anniversary in Buckingham Palace last month.

The TV star looked sensational in a blue floral dress as she sang White Cliffs of Dover and left viewers stunned with her vocals.

Following her spellbinding performance many took to Twitter to share their praise of the star, one viewer wrote: ‘That was absolutely beautiful.’
