Bryce Dallas Howard is ‘grateful to have a job’ as Jurassic World 3 gears up to resume production

As sweeping restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic continue to be lifted around the world, news broke this week that Jurassic World: Dominion is set to resume filming next month in the UK.

And franchise regular Bryce Dallas Howard is excited to get back to work as lead Claire Dearing, who she portrayed in 2015’s Jurassic World and the sequel Fallen Kingdom three years later.

While speaking to SiriusXM’s EW Live on Tuesday, the Help actress, 39, said she was looking forward to getting back to work and feels things are being handled with the utmost of precaution in this ‘post’ COVID-19 phase.

‘There’s been a lot of communication. They are going above and beyond,’ Bryce said.

‘We would never be going back to work if we didn’t feel safe. And, you know, we’re taking it one day at a time and I’m very grateful to have a job.’

Jurassic World: Dominion, also starring Chris Pratt, will be the first large studio production to get back to work in England following the COVID-19 industry shutdown.

The sixth film in the Jurassic Park franchise began shooting in Canada earlier this year, but was halted when the global health crisis forced the majority of movie and TV productions into dormancy.

Pratt, Howard and the rest of the cast and crew were sent home and plans to fly them to the UK – where much of the movie was set to be shot at Pinewood Studios outside London – were put on hold as the pandemic raged.

Now, immense precautions are being taken as filming is set to resume in mid-July, with both Bryce and Chris scheduled to undergo a full, routine two-week quarantine once arriving in England, before any shooting commences.

‘What feels really right about it is that there is this daily conversation, daily communication with all of the actors, all of the key crew members and just us consistently being like, “Ok how are we going to do this, how are we going to do this safely,”‘ Bryce added on the SiriusXM Radio show.

Other notable actors set to rejoin the dinosaur fray as restrictions lift are three OG Jurassic Park cast members, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and recent Oscar winner Laura Dern.

Although each has appeared in subsequent sequels, Dominion will see the trio appearing together for the first time since the original 1993 film.

Universal has confirmed that pre-production will commence next week and that filming will re-start on July 6.

Speaking to Deadline, an exec from Universal said: ‘The plan is for us to be shooting early-mid July.’

They also said that the production will be ‘implementing rigorous safety protocols on-site’ over the rest of June, in guidance with post-lockdown regulations.
