Brooks Laich still ‘hopes to be a father one day’ following end of his marriage to Julianne Hough

He confirmed the end of his marriage to Julianne Hough last month.

But Brooks Laich isn’t giving up on his dream of one day having children.

‘I hope to be a father one day,’ he said during Sunday’s episode of his podcast How Men Think.

The former professional hockey player, 36, added he hoped the world would ‘be a better place’ by the time he does.

Laich has been self-isolating at his remote cabin in Idaho during the coronavirus pandemic while Hough, 31, remained in Los Angeles.

Their two-month separation accelerated their decision to break up, it’s been claimed.

‘Brooks loves his outdoor life in Idaho, wanted a more traditional marriage and to start a family. Julianne wanted a less traditional marriage, to focus on her career and loves her city life and Hollywood existence,’ a source claimed to Entertainment Tonight.

A pal of the Canadian former pro-athlete explained to People: ‘It really took the lockdown and them being separated for two months for him to realize that it is time to let go.’

‘He has been happy living by himself in nature,’ the insider added.

Laich and Hough began dating Brooks near the end of 2013 and they married in July 2017 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho.

The Dancing With The Stars alum, who had previously been in a relationship with Ryan Seacrest, stunned fans last August when she revealed in the September issue of Women’s Health that she is ‘not straight.’

In May, the couple issued a statement announcing their decision to part.

It read: ‘We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate. We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place.’
