Britney Spears is ‘not being held hostage’… despite #FreeBritney campaign trending again from fans

Fans and followers of Britney Spears have long supported her with the #FreeBritney movement, concerned that the troubled pop star’s controversial conservatorship is keeping her held prisoner of her own life.

Britney, 38, has been under her the legal guardianship of her father Jamie Spears since 2008 following a very public breakdown, but recently, fans have speculated that the singer has been trying to communicate to the outside world via her Instagram to plead for her escape.

However, TMZ reports that the singer is ‘not being held hostage’ adding that her father Jamie is not ‘lording it over his daughter’ and that there is ‘a slew of people involved in the conservatorship – doctors, lawyers, therapists and a judge.’

The site has once again reported that the cocktail of medications that Britney takes to stabilise her mental health has become less efficient over time and that recently she’s been ‘struggling.’

The report does note though that Britney – who has a reported net worth of $59 million – ‘sometimes complains she wants more freedom.’

Per the report, the #FreeBritney is movement is said to have resurfaced after fans secretly contacted the singer with messages including ‘wear pink if you’re in trouble’ and ‘wear black if you need help’ – the singer was then seen dancing in a video wearing pink shorts with black polka dots, stirring up conspiracy theories.

Last year in May, Britney attended a court hearing over her conservatorship with both her parents – her father Jamie and her mother, Lynne Spears – where the singer was ordered to undergo a 730 expert evaluation.

Then, in September last year, #FreeBritney campaigners gathered outside a court in downtown Los Angeles, for the hearing over conservatorship, but the results of the hearing remained unclear.

The conservatorship, usually in place for the elderly, gives Jamie and lawyers nearly all control over the singer’s business and personal affairs.

Meanwhile, just two days ago, Britney’s mother Lynne, 65, put in a request to be included in any ‘special notice’ of all matters regarding her daughter’s finances.

Earlier this month, Britney insisted to fans that she was happy when posting a quote from the Bible.

‘I get how some people might not like my posts or even understand them, but this is Me being happy ….. this is Me being authentic and as real as it gets !!!!!’ she wrote.

‘I want to inspire people to do the same and just be themselves without pleasing others ….. that’s the key to happiness.’

The passage Britney posted read: ‘Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.’
