Boxer James Hawley has been dropped by promoter MTK Global after a disgusting homophobic rant on his TikTok account where he called gay men ‘dirty c****’.

Hawley has faced huge criticism on social media since the video, shared by Drag Race UK star Baga Chipz on Wednesday, showed the 21-year-old going on an extended rant. 

In the video, Hawley was asked whether he supported LGBT rights.

He responded: ‘I 1,000, 1million per cent do not agree with this stuff. Listen, I can understand girls get with each other all the time at parties and all things like that. 

‘I don’t care, not a problem. I’d want them to get with each other in front of me.

‘But boys on the other hand, and transgenders, there’s something seriously wrong with you. What in the earth makes you want to change your gender and get f***** in the a***.

‘What is up with you dirty c****. I feel sorry for your families’.

After the video was flagged up to MTK Global – who represent the likes of Tyson Fury and Carl Frampton – they responded in a direct message on Instagram.

A statement from them read: ‘Many thanks for taking the time to reach out to us and bring this to our attention.

‘The management team have made the decision to terminate Mr Hawley’s contract with MTK Global with immediate effect and will no longer be representing him in any format.

‘The boxing community is about respect and unity and MTK Global prides itself on its community focus and inclusive ethos. 

‘It has always been our mission to make boxing accessible to all, embracing  individuality and being a safe space where community can express themselves and support one another.

‘MTK Global does not in any way condone, or support the views that were shared in any way, nor will these comments ever be considered as acceptable from any of our fighters hence the decision that was made by management.’

Hawley has a 6-0 record since making his professional debut in December 2014. His last fight saw him beat Josh Adewale in Brentwood.

The middleweight has come in for criticism on social media. Sam Ramsden wrote: ‘This is what happens when you get punched in the head for a living’.

Another Twitter user wrote: ‘This video is a huge reminder to anyone who thinks homophobia and transphobia don’t exist that they 100 per cent do and they are horrible.’

Harry Hancock added: ‘It’s a great day to call out some transphobic & homophobic bigots’.
