Bonnie Sveen reveals her she was ‘left in debt’ after moving to Los Angeles

The dark side of Hollywood: Ex-Home and Away star Bonnie Sveen reveals her she was ‘left with hefty debt and a bruised ego’ after spending five months auditioning in Los Angeles

She’s usually quite guarded when it comes to her private life.

But on Monday, former Home and Away star Bonnie Sveen surprised fans by sharing her experience of trying to make it as an actress in Hollywood.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘Eight years ago I was back from five months overseas, with a hefty debt and a bruised ego. My experience in LA was professionally not as I’d hoped.’

The 31-year-old added: ‘[I was] feeling lost but also more certain of who I was, recovering from insecurities and a weakened body image.’

While Bonnie did not go into the detail about the trip, it was clear she hadn’t landed the dream role she had hoped for.

But she revealed her outlook on life had changed since then, after welcoming two children with her partner, Nathan Gooley.

Bonnie explained how she’d landed her role Ricky Sharpe just a few months after her disappointing experience in Los Angeles.

She went on to meet Nathan, who is ‘now the father of my twin daughters.’

‘I found it near impossible to absorb all the blessings and privilege that came with that era,’ she added.

'In a few months, I was to start the most beautiful journey of my life, becoming and befriending Ricky... and many fictional & real-life excellent people,' she said

Bonnie’s daughters, Myrtle and Emerald, were born in September 2018

The babies were almost one month premature and spent two weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit at Royal Hobart Hospital.

The family-of-four have since settled in rural Tasmania after relocating from Sydney.
