Big Brother’s BIG problem: Finale’s voting site is plagued by technical issues

Voting for the Big Brother finale got off to a rocky start after a series of technical blunders meant viewers were unable to pick their favourites.

Fans were encouraged to cast their votes online the moment that housemates Chad Hurst, Sophie Budack and Daniel Gorringe were announced as the final three on Tuesday’s episode.

However, the voting website appeared to immediately crash due to the overwhelming traffic, with many viewers complaining their page ‘kept timing out’ while others couldn’t even register.

Viewers still have until Wednesday night’s finale to log in and vote for the person they want to see win the $230,000 cash prize.

However, those who wanted to get their vote in early proved to have a difficult time.

One frustrated voter tweeted: ‘I wasn’t able to vote. I tried using my iPhone and then my iPad but no @Channel7 @bigbrother_au wouldn’t let me go to voting page. Anyone that can help much appreciated. #BBAU.’

Another fan added: ‘Would vote if you lot would let me register, keeps saying credentials are invalid thanks heaps.’

One viewer noted: The Big Brother voting site is not handling the demand well. Why does this always happen on launch days #BBAU.’

Another joked: ‘Starting to think the mob that manage the BB voting website also looked after the census #crash #BBAU #BigBrotherAU.’

However, others attempted to explain the technical issues, with one fan explaining: ‘Don’t forget a whole bunch of people will be voting at once. That’s most likely why it’ll be slow.’

Someone else advised: ‘If you wait for a few minutes on the page, the voting page will come up straight. It took a few minutes loading. After it says voting soon, the voting page come up straight away if you wait.’

A Channel Seven representative told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Due to the high influx of activity in the minutes directly after the show, some users experienced a lag when casting their vote however the delays were quickly resolved.

‘There is still time to vote for the housemate you want to win – vote for Chad, Daniel or Sophie now at www.bigbrother.com.au.’

Ahead of the winner being decided by public vote, housemates Chad and Sophie have agreed to split the $230,000 cash prize if they win.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday, the loved-up couple confirmed their decision to share the prize if one of them is victorious.

Sophie and Chad are up against former AFL star Daniel.

‘I would obviously share the money with Sophie. We both agreed. It’s just fair. We came in together, we’ve done everything together, so to share the money is the right thing to do,’ Chad said.

‘There’s just no way I’m not going to share the money with Sophie,’ he added.

Sophie also said: ‘We were a team in the house and we have come up with a deal that the winner will give a cut to the other person.’

‘Without a question, we’re both equally deserving of the win.’

However, Daniel was a little more skeptical of the deal the pair had made.

‘If they split that money, I’ll eat my left shoe. It’s very hard when the money is in front of you. They might prove me wrong and I hope they do,’ he said.

He added: ‘Sophie and Chad would deserve that win if they get it.’
