Big Brother star Marissa Rancan reveals why she had a ‘target on her back’ when she entered the house
Many fans might recognise Big Brother star Marissa Rancan for her stint in famous ’80s aerobic group the Rancan Sisters.
But the makeup artist has revealed that she deliberately kept her past fame under wraps when she went into the house.
The 62-year-old told New Idea that being famous would have immediately put a ‘target on her back’ and resulted in an early eviction.

‘Some of the housemates weren’t even born when I was doing my aerobics, so I went in not telling anyone as I thought I’d be fairly safe,’ she said.
‘I felt I didn’t want to be judged by that, as it could put a target on my back.’
Marissa, Adele and Lisa Rancan opened their first aerobics gym in 1981 and soon gyrated their way to fame scoring with regular spots on breakfast TV.

However, their fame was short lived and the group disbanded in 1988.
While Adele and Lisa still run a studio focusing on Pilates and Barre, Marissa followed her passion and became a makeup artist.
But will the Rancan Sisters ever make a comeback?

‘We’re not as close as we were. Like all families… as you grow older you drift apart,’ Marissa told New Idea.
‘But if someone wanted to do a fitness collaboration with me, I’d never say no – fitness has always been a part of my life!’
It comes after it was revealed earlier this month that Marissa already knew Big Brother host Sonia Kruger before she went into the house.

The makeup artist had actually glammed up the Channel Seven star before an event in June 2018.
Marissa took to Instagram in June to share a throwback selfie of the pair, saying that the TV personality was a ‘beautiful human’.
‘This time last year I had the privilege of doing the gorgeous and talented Sonia Kruger’s makeup before she headed off to the Logies,’ she gushed of the meeting.
‘What a beautiful human inside and out.’

It’s believed that the two women only met once when Sonia visited a Sydney department store that Marissa previously worked in.
She was never part of Sonia’s glam squad, and had simply asked her for a selfie.
However, the pair didn’t appear to remember their meeting when Sonia welcomed Marissa to the Big Brother house at the start of the season.
