BBC’s Big Night In: The Body Coach Joe Wicks can barely manage three sit-ups and orders a pizza as he turns into a lazy PE teacher in hilarious sketch

He has been dubbed the nation’s hero amid the coronavirus lockdown.

And The Body Coach Joe Wicks tried his hand at comedy with a hilarious sketch featuring a lazy, pizza ordering PE teacher during the BBC’s charity fundraising event, Big Night In, on Thursday.

The fitness guru, 33, had fans in hysterics with his skit, which was dubbed ‘the best bit’ of the evening on Twitter.

The Big Night In merged charities Comic Relief and Children In Need for a night of fundraising and entertainment, with proceeds also going towards battling COVID-19.

The sketch began in the usual high energy fashion that we are used to seeing the Body Coach begin all his workouts but things quickly deteriorated.

As the days ticked on, Joe eventually sat back and enjoyed a coffee while telling participants: ‘You just carry on.’

The fitness guru then instructed ’50 sit-ups’ and hilariously only managed three before becoming too out of breath.

Finally, the dad-of-two put his feet up and decided to order pizza instead of lead his class.

He did not hold back, ordering ‘dough balls and stuffed crust pizza’, a far cry from the Lean In 15 meals fans are used to.

One viewer said on Twitter: ‘Best bit.’

While another shared: ‘He is just awesome isn’t he?’

The evening’s events saw the likes of Miranda Hart reunite with her Miranda co-stars, as well as Matt Lucas and David Walliams performing remote Little Britain sketches. This was all done via the internet.

A Radio 1 charity single was recorded with numerous major artists – but all from home.

All performances – live and pre-recorded – kept the contributors away from the studio; yet the BBC still felt the need to use even more hosts for the show than on Sunday’s broadcast.

The three-hour show featured Lenny Henry, Davina McCall, Zoe Ball, Matt Baker and Paddy McGuinness, swapping them around halfway through the live transmission.

This sparked criticism with viewers on Twitter who feel the BBC missed the mark.

One shared: ‘Mental that a show about staying in your homes needed 6 presenters all in the same room!’ a fourth posted.

Another penned: ‘#BigNightIn but the BBC are filling the studio with presenters. Does this really require this many presenters???”
