BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood revealed she was hit by a car while out on her bike as she explained her short break from the show on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old weather presenter returned to the BBC morning show and thanked those who helped her following the accident and said she is ‘grateful’ to be OK.
She said: ‘I was out on my bike and got knocked off it by a car that drove into me, it was pure accident of course and I got injured.

‘This is a great opportunity to say thank you to the three cyclists that helped me immediately after the incident.
‘And also the Thames Valley police, that was Chris and also Faye. And the ambulance that tended to me and took me to hospital, that was Miranda and Stewart.
‘At Wexham Park Hospital, this man is a genius, his name Peter Foskett-Tharby. I can’t thank you enough and I’m so grateful to you all.’

Carol isn’t quite back to full health but was happy to be alive and well.
She said: ‘I’m getting there. I’ve still got a nasty injury on my knee, but I’m here.’
After the show, Carol tweeted: ‘Morning! Hope you and yours are all keeping well and safe. xxx
‘Been off following an accident. Got knocked off my bike by a car and got injured.
‘Biggest thanks ever to the Police (Chris and Faye), the Ambulance Crew (Miranda and Stewart) who tended to me and took me to Hospital. And especially Peter Foskett-Tharby at Wexham Park Hospital.’
She added: ‘I am overwhelmed and humbled by all your lovely tweets. Will read them properly when I get home later.
‘THANK YOU! It is so good to be back. Hope you are all keeping well. xxx’
