Bachelor In Paradise’s Ciarran Stott admits he cheated on ex Renee Barrett

Bachelor In Paradise’s Ciarran Stott is grilled about his past relationship with Renee Barrett… and things turn tense when he admits he cheated on her

Ciarran Stott found himself at the centre of a tense conversation on Wednesday’s premiere episode of Bachelor In Paradise.

As the show’s bachelors and bachelorettes sat chatting around a table, Cassandra Mamone decided to drop a bombshell, asking the 26-year-old how he’d feel if his ex-girlfriend Renee Barrett appeared on the show.

Becoming uncomfortable, Ciarran admitted his relationship with Renee didn’t end on good terms, and it was ‘because of me’.

‘I f**ked up. Went away for a wedding, ended up cheating on her,’ he said bluntly.

But Ciarran said he’d owned up to his mistake, and insisted he wouldn’t do it again.

‘I told her. Said what it was. Obviously knew it was a mistake. Shouldn’t have done it,’ he continued.

He said he’d been looking for an out in the relationship, and thought cheating was the easiest way to end it.

‘At the time I was like, “I don’t want to be in this relationship anymore,” but it wasn’t ending, so, in my mind, as stupid as it is, “If I do this, then it’ll end,”‘ he explained.

‘And still didn’t. And then, yeah, so I had to end it, and that was the end of that. It’s pretty s**t, but, you know, it was a mistake. I learnt from it. Wouldn’t do it again.’

An awkward silence fell over the group as they all took in what he’d just told them, with Ciarran acknowledging there was ‘a bit of a mood shift change in the air’.

Answering Cassandra’s question, Ciarran said he’d be happy for Renee if she came on the show and found love.

After previously admitting she had a crush on Ciarran, Abbie Chatfield was quick to defend him, praising him for ‘owning’ his ‘mistakes’.
