Timm Hanly attempted to defend his ‘mate’ Ciarran Stott’s cheating past, after he was ambushed at the dinner party from hell, by brutally stirring the pot.   

The Bachelorette runner-up, 28, didn’t hold back as he toyed with Ciarran’s ex-girlfriend-turned-intruder Renee Barrett, Cassandra Mamone and Niranga Amarasinghe on Tuesday night’s episode. 

Fans were less than impressed by his many outbursts, with some pointing out they were seeing a completely different side to Timm than they had on Angie Kent’s season of The Bachelorette.

‘Honestly this drama really shows some people’s true colours. Timm seemed so chill [on the Bachelorette] but it turns out he’s a bit of a d**khead,’ one fan said. 

‘I like Timm but when he comes to the defense of Ciarran he’s a bit of a d**k,’ another torn viewer admitted. 

‘I bet Angie’s glad she didn’t pick Timm lmao,’ a third said, referring to his stint on The Bachelorette.

Many Twitter users were also horrified the contestants put the responsibility on Brittney Hockey to pull him into line and ‘control’ his behavior.

One fan wrote: ‘Also everyone telling Britt to control Timm is gross, stop making women responsible for men’s behaviour.’

‘Stop telling Britt to control Timm. We all know Timm is controlled by a parakeet that lives in his hair,’ another demanded.   

However, some viewers were actually impressed with Timm’s loyalty to Ciarran.

Confused: 'How are gorgeous, strong, articulate women like Brittany and Renee (pictured) attracted to people like Timm and Ciarran?' another fan asked

‘I think I would want to be with a guy who would go to bat for me against people rather than just sit there with his fingers up his a** so good on you Timm for calling s**t out, whatever your reasons are,’ one fan said.

‘One thing about Timm, of he ever gets out of line he seems to have a bit of sense and hindsight about his own antics…. I hope him and Britt work it out… I mean we know they do,’ another pointed out, after Timm clearly regretted his actions. 

On the night, Ciarran once again confessed to cheating on his ex-Renee, which led to an awkward apology at the dinner table. After Ciarran stormed off, Timm did his best to defend his friend with disastrous consequences. 

Bachelor in Paradise continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel Ten
