‘The Godfather is no more’: Australian Survivor: All Stars’ Mat Rogers is blindsided after his shock elimination

Mat Rogers was eliminated from Australian Survivor: All Stars on Monday.

The former rugby league player, 44, was blindsided after his tribe felt he was playing an ‘uneventful’ game on the island.

Speaking to The Courier Mail after his departure, Mat complained about his ‘boring’ exit and took a swipe at his co-stars for dumping him so quickly.

‘Survivor is about relationships, and I had really strong ones and people could have exploited those for their own benefit but they didn’t,’ he said.

‘I probably should’ve been out early, if I was in the position that they were in and I had an idol, the way Lydia went and said, “We should blindside Mat out with an idol.” That would have been a great play, they didn’t do it.

‘I would have been proud to go out that way. It was a pretty boring way I went out.’

During Monday’s episode, Mat plotted to knock Shonee Fairfax or ‘Dirty’ Harry Hills out of the game – but his plan didn’t work as they turned on him instead.

He reminded the tribe they needed his strength if they wanted to win immunity, but they chose to vote against him.

After the episode, Mat reflected on Instagram: ‘Was a blast to go round for a second time. Couldn’t quite tip the scales in my favor. That’s the game.. I’m not going to embarrass myself and try to justify what went down or how and why.

‘I’m just going to say it was an amazing experience from start to finish. To the crew, you guys absolutely rock! What you do to get this show to air blows my mind! You deserve every accolade that comes your way! Much love to all of you!’

Mat first competed on Australian Survivor: Champions v Contenders in 2018.
