Australian K-pop star Rosé breaks multiple Guinness World Records with her girl group Blackpink

An Australian K-pop star has broken multiple Guinness World Records. 

Roseanne ‘Rosé’ Park, who is a member of South Korean girl group Blackpink, has entered the record books thanks to the success of the group’s new single, How You Like That.

The music video for the song earned 86.3 million views in its first day on YouTube, making it the most viewed video on the platform in 24 hours.

It’s also the most viewed music video on YouTube in 24 hours and the most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group.

All three records were previously held by South Korean boy band BTS with their single, Boy With Luv, featuring American singer Halsey.

Previous record holders include Ariana Grande’s Thank U Next and Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do.

Blackpink’s new single How You Like That has been a huge hit since its release last month. 

It topped the iTunes charts in more than 60 countries, including the Unites States, and has amassed over 200 million views on YouTube. 

The K-pop quartet recently collaborated with Lady Gaga on the track Sour Candy, which debuted at No. 8 on the ARIA singles chart.

The track is now the highest charting song from a Korean group in Australia. The record was previously held by BTS and Halsey’s Boy With Luv, which peaked at No. 10.

Although the group is South Korean, Rosé was born in New Zealand and raised in Melbourne. 

She was still a teenager attending Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College when she was discovered after acing a local audition for Korean entertainment agency YG Entertainment.

The budding songstress then relocated to Seoul, where she took singing, dancing, and language lessons for several years before debuting with Blackpink in late 2016.

The group are currently working on a new full-length album, which will be released later this year.
