Ashley Graham dresses her baby Isaac in ‘born at home’ onesie after shunning hospital birth because of ‘anxiety’

New mother Ashely Graham shared a snap of her son wearing a ‘born at home’ onesie on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old model gave birth to her first child Isaac Menelik Giovanni Ervin via a home water birth in January.

‘i [heart] u my sweet boy,’ she captioned the post.

Ashley recently said that she chose to deliver at home in a birthing pool because her ‘anxiety would’ve been through the roof’ at a hospital.

Isaac’s shirt was teamed with a pair of light colored sweat pants and knitted booties.

The reaction to the photo was mixed, with some fans praising her efforts to normalize home births while others warned of the dangers.

‘You’re such an inspiration for us mamas that choose to birth outside of hospitals,’ wrote one follower.

Another commented: ‘My homebirth was amazing. I think it’s incredible that you made that choice! There’s such a stigma surrounding homebirth that I’d love to smash.’

Others felt as though Ashley’s post was ‘dismissing’ hospital births in favor of a ‘dangerous’ home birth.

‘I’m sure you have the money to ensure a home birth would not be dangerous. That’s not the case for many women. Please make sure you have a good birth plan if you’re having a child at home,’ wrote one, writing from experience of the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby’s neck.

Another penned: ‘Had an emergency caesarian – but at least my child and I survived…. I didn’t fail/miss out etc. I’m no lesser than anyone else.’

Ashley went through a six hour at home labor and had a natural birth.

‘I gave birth and I did it naturally and I felt everything, I feel like there’s nothing I can’t do,’ she said when speaking about the experience for the first time on her Pretty Big Deal podcast.

‘There’s nothing that could come my way where I say, “Oh, that’s too hard, I can’t handle that.” I went through laboring for six hours naturally.’

The model’s husband, Justin Ervin, also agreed that their home-birth was the right move for them.

‘To go straight from the pool to the bed with our son and just hold him, what a bond,’ he said.

The couple announced Isaac’s birth on January 20 on Instagram Stories, but didn’t share a photo until two weeks after on February 3.
