Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham are recovering from a ‘tough time’ after having a miscarriage

Arie Luyendyk Jr. and his wife Lauren Burnham were moved by the outpouring of support they received after the loss of their pregnancy late last month.

The 38-year-old Bachelor star and his 28-year-old wife showed their appreciation in a video posted Tuesday featuring their daughter Alessi, one.

The couple were in the midst of packing up to move into a larger home they purchased when they were expecting a second child.

‘Thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown us over the past week,’ Lauren said at the start of the video.

‘It’s been a tough time for us. It’s been a tough time for everybody in the world, obviously. There’s a lot happening.’

She beamed ear-to-ear as little Alessi gave her affectionate kisses on the cheek while she spoke.

‘We’ve read a lot of your comments,’ Arie added. ‘So much overwhelming support for us, and it just really put a smile on our faces because this has been a really tough week especially for Lauren, but we’re getting through it day by day.’

‘She’s been walking back and forth trying to put her lip gloss on us,’ Lauren joked.

The rest of the video was devoted to rummaging through their closet while trying to find items they could toss before moving out.

On May 30, Lauren and Arie revealed they had lost their second pregnancy.

They said there were signs of problems from early on, when the baby was estimated to be ‘eight weeks along’ but only looked to be about five weeks old.

‘We were really confused by that,’ Lauren later shared.

‘But our doctor assured us that it could be a number of things and not to panic about it. It could mean I’m just not as far as long as I was, it could mean I ovulated less, or it could mean that it’s not a viable pregnancy.’

The two monitored the pregnancy, but the fetus was continued to develop slower than normal.

On May 28, Lauren learned she had suffered from a missed miscarriage, which is what happens when ‘the embryo dies without your knowledge, and you don’t deliver.’

The situation happens ‘where the baby has died or not developed, but has not been physically miscarried. In many cases, there has been no sign that anything was wrong, so the news can come as a complete shock,’ according to the Miscarriage Association.

Not up to speed: But things began to take a turn as early as their first doctor's appointment where the baby which was estimated to be 'eight weeks along' looked only about five weeks

Arie and Lauren’s romance almost didn’t happen, as he originally chose Becca Kufrin at the end of The Bachelor and sent Lauren home as the runner-up.

But the race car driver ended his relationship with Becca weeks later and proposed to Lauren.
