Remember him? A*mazing and Saturday Disney host James Sherry, 53, looks unrecognisable as he resurfaces on ABC Hard Quiz before getting GRILLED by Tom Gleeson

Australian actor and television presenter James Sherry is known for hosting the popular children’s TV shows, A*mazing and Saturday Disney.

And James looked barely recognisable when he recently resurfaced on the small screen and appeared on the ABC’s Hard Quiz.

The 53-year-old appeared in a recent episode of the show and was absolutely grilled by host Tom Gleeson, 46.

‘You’re a TV presenter, but I haven’t heard of you,’ Tom began in a scathing introduction.

‘What are you on? Channel 31?’

James said he used to host A*mazing and joked to Tom that he wanted to see him ‘strut his stuff live.’

‘Did you want to learn?’ Tom shot back.

Tom went on to joke with James about his Logie invites ‘drying up,’ before adding: ‘It’s a bit awkward. You do know there’s a celebrity version of Hard Quiz and you’re not on it?’

James hosted two of the most popular children’s TV shows – Channel Seven’s A*mazing and Saturday Disney – back in the nineties.

James had a surprising career change and now works as a content producer and announcer for Cricket Australia and the AFL, but has not ruled out a TV comeback.

In an interview with Vice back in 2016, he said that he ‘felt old’ looking back at his time hosting the games show A*mazing from 1994 to 1998, but described the gig as his ‘dream job’.

He said he still gets fans coming up to him and gushing about the show.

‘What I miss most is working with young people, I just always felt inspired by their energy and enthusiasm,’ James added.

He also hinted that he’d be open for a return to TV, starting the ‘Bring Back A*mazing’ Facebook page in 2013 to see if it would take off.

‘We threw the line and there was a little nibble from Nintendo, but that was about it,’ he explained.

‘You know, sometimes all you can do is try.’

James hosted Saturday Disney from 1990 to 1994 and went on to present A*mazing from 1994 to 1998.

He has also dabbled in acting and appeared on other shows, including Blue Heelers and McLeod’s Daughters.
