Amanda Holden is overcome with emotion during a special leap year proposal segment live on air during her Heart Breakfast radio show

Amanda Holden was left feeling emotional on Friday morning during her Heart Breakfast radio show alongside co-host Jamie Theakston.

The radio presenters helped five couples pull off surprise proposals live on air which saw all five women pop the question to their partners in light of the leap year tradition.

But it all proved too much for Amanda, 49, who emotionally wiped away tears of joy as she cheered with delight following the success of each proposal.

The special segment on the morning radio show saw the five couples visit the studio after being told they’d won a competition, with the prize being a tour of the Heart Studios.

But unbeknown to the men, their female counterparts had arranged a surprise proposal with the radio station, which saw all five couples leave the studio as newly engaged couples.

In a video obtained by Global, Amanda could be seen throwing her hands in the air with joy as each grand moment played out live on air.

Ahead of one of the proposals, Amanda passed a small black box to the guest, and documenting the happy moment for her listeners, she said:  “Now handing over the black present, it is a black box with a bow on top”.

Upon receiving the gift, the woman passed it to her partner who coyly opened the box to reveal the words ‘marry me’.

And in a triumphant moment, he eagerly proclaimed, ‘absolutely’ before the couple – along with radio hosts Amanda and Jamie –  laughed and cheered gleefully.

Following the show, Amanda was spotted leaving the Heart studios, but not without getting caught in the rain.

She battled the elements in an over-sized cream jumper and matching woollen overcoat as she ventured out without an umbrella.

But clearly still on a high from the morning’s love-filled show,  the star didn’t let the stormy conditions get her down, as she was still sporting a warm smile on her face.

Tune into Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston & Amanda Holden Weekdays from 6.30am.
