The supportive wife’s outing comes after Alex credited his 56-year-old love with keeping him ‘alive’ amid his battle against pancreatic cancer.

Jean looked sporty as she rocked leggings and a fitted black top for the outing.

She carried a few Mylar balloons and a little paper bag before heading home to her hubby of 30-years.

In addition to his birthday, the couple was celebrating Alex’s health as he continues to cope with pancreatic cancer.

The TV personality made it clear he couldn’t have done it alone, telling People: ‘She’s kept me alive. If it weren’t for Jean, I’d have put myself out of this a long time ago.’

‘Love has kept me alive,’ he added. Trebek also said that he wants a ‘longer life’ with his spouse.

Alex clarified some darker comments from his new memoir, The Answer Is… Reflections On My Life via Jeopardy social media on Wednesday.

Though he wrote that he would ‘stop treatment’ if his quality of life worsened in the memoir, he told fans: ‘That quote from the book was written BEFORE my current regimen, and I was going through some bad times.

‘My current numbers are very good, but we will have to be patient with this new immunotherapy program that I am on. But if we were to stop being successful, I would return to my previous chemo treatment—NOT stop all treatment.’

He went on to say: ‘I apologize for any confusion, and want everyone to know that I am optimistic about my current plan, and thank them for their concern.

The book details Alex and Jean’s romance. In it he said he knew he would ‘end up with’ Jean the moment they met in 1988.

He explained: ‘With Jean it just happened. Sometimes you look at something, you look at someone, and you know.

‘I mean, you’ve heard stories of people who meet and decide within half an hour; I knew this was going to be the person I’d end up with.

‘With Jeanie that’s how it was. I wasn’t looking for love. But I recognized at a gut level that here was someone who was going to complete me as a human being.’

The 80-year-old game show host also recalled making a ‘Jeopardy!’ joke in the middle of his 1990 wedding.

He added: ‘When the minister said, ‘Do you, Alex, take Jean to be your wife?’ I said, ‘The answer is … Yes.’

‘Leave it to me, always trying to go for a laugh. And I got one. Everybody cracked up.’

Meanwhile, Alex recently said Jean has been a ‘saint’ during his cancer battle, but said he’s worried he could be a ‘burden on her’.

He said: ‘There was one day a few weeks ago when [my wife] Jeanie asked me in the morning, ‘How do you feel?’ And I said, ‘I feel like I wanna die.’ It was that bad. I apologise to her and explain that it has nothing to do with my love for her or my feelings for her.

‘It just has to do with the fact that I feel like I’m a terrible burden to her, and that bothers me tremendously.

‘She’s a saint. She has so much goodness in her that she is always giving out, always putting out to help me get over difficult moments. And there have been some difficult moments. I’m just in awe of the way she handles it.’

Trebek was so depressed after his Playboy Bunny wife divorced him that he spent evenings in bed feasting on fried chicken and drinking white wine.

The TV host said he got through the ‘worst time in my life’ by curling up with a bucket of KFC for nights on end.

Trebek called himself a ‘very depressed monk’ after splitting from his wife Elaine Callei, then his father dying of cancer and his career hitting the skids at the same time.

The episode is recounted in a biography of Trebek who has hosted Jeopardy! for the past 26 years.

Who Is Alex Trebek?: A Biography by Lisa Rogak claims that NBC lied to US immigration about the Canadian host having a photographic memory to get him his big break in America.

The book also claims that Trebek once ate four brownies without realizing they had marijuana in them and spent the next three days in bed because he was so spaced out.
