‘We tried twice in 2020. We got bit twice by COVID-19. You know, they say in baseball, ‘Third time’s the charm,’ so let’s hope…’ Rodriguez said.

The couple had initially planned on tying the knot in Italy last summer, which was postponed twice, but the slugger hopes to get hitched this year.

No date has been set at this time, with Lopez telling Elle last week, ‘There’s no rush. We want to do it right when we can do it.’

Alex spoke to Jimmy while sitting in front of his bar at home, well-stocked with dozens of types of liquor, and joked that he was calling from his office.

When Jimmy asked him how he’d liked being in Times Square for the 2021 New Year’s Eve celebrations, Alex focused on Jennifer’s performance.

‘Jennifer killed it,’ he said. ‘She did have a great slide—I thought that was my job.’

Alex shared some details about what he and Jennifer, 51, had been up to recently as he promoted his new gig as a guest judge on the ABC show Shark Tank.

He said that Jennifer was very nervous to play Wednesday’s inauguration celebrations.

‘It’s been such a crazy year for her,’ A-Rod acknowledged. ‘So amazing. So many blessings. But to think, in the span of 12 months, she’s done the Super Bowl, New Year’s, now the inaugural. It’s unbelievable. And what’s interesting is she’s most nervous about Washington, D.C., because of the responsibility.’

‘She wants more than anything, like all of us, to bring people together,’ he continued. ‘To inspire. And you know music and sports does that better than anything. And she has something really cool. You’re gonna be surprised. You’re gonna love it,’ he said of her upcoming Inauguration performance.

The Emmy-winning baseball analyst also noted that he was looking forward to a full season of baseball this year, emphasizing that the New York Yankees and Mets were ‘on fire’ lately.

When Jimmy asked him about his role on Shark Tank, Alex said he’d chosen to do it ‘for several reasons: Number one, I feel like on Friday nights, America is getting their MBA in business. Number two, it’s done a lot of social good. It’s deployed over $100 million, over 25,000 jobs. My daughters, Natasha and Ella, ever since they were little, little, little girls, I always used to make them pitch to us and tell us about their business ideas.’

When Jimmy wondered whether Alex had always been into business, the former Yankee replied that ‘baseball and business’ had been his twin goals since age 10.

‘I call them ‘the two Bs,’ Alex explained. ‘I wanted to be like my father, an entrepreneur.’

Jimmy and Alex then played the ‘Singing Whisper Challenge,’ where he sang his fiancée Jennifer Lopez’s 2001 hit Love Don’t Cost A Thing.

He was tasked with singing it to Jimmy, who tried to guess what the song was while wearing headphones that were also blaring music.

As Alex half-talked, half-sang the famous lines, ‘Think you gotta keep me iced you don’t, think I’m gonna spend your cash, I won’t,’ Jimmy tried futilely to figure out the lyrics.

‘I’m gonna beat your a**’?’ he offered. ‘Cracker barrel?’ ‘Cut-off shorts?’

He finally gave up and took off the headphones, after which Alex said, ‘Here’s our friend Jennifer: ‘Love don’t cost a thing.’

‘Oh my gosh,’ Jimmy returned. ‘That’s a tough one to do, that’s not fair.’

Jimmy sang Montell Jordan’s 1995 hit This is How We Do It, which Alex—wearing headphones—thought was called I Love You So before getting it on the second try.

Alex then sang Def Leppard’s 1987 classic Pour Some Sugar On Me, hilariously repeating it several times as loud as he could until Jimmy, in headphones, finally got it.

Jimmy covered The Police’s 1978 song Roxanne, which Alex immediately got.

J. Lo’s song was last, and Alex could barely stop laughing long enough to sing it.
