AEW pro-wrestlers Brandi and Cody Rhodes announce they are expecting their first child together: ‘Closing out 2020 on an epic high!’

  • They shocked fans as they announced they were expecting with a short clip which aired live on All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Dynamite on Wednesday

Pro-wrestling’s iconic Rhodes family is adding on to their legacy.

Brandi and Cody Rhodes shocked fans as they announced that they were expecting their first child together with a short clip which aired live on All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Dynamite on Wednesday. 

In the video from the weekly show on TNT, the pro-wrestling power couple were shown putting up Christmas decorations in their home when they get a special delivery of a small present anonymously left by their front door.

They sit down on the couch as the 35-year-old Cody rips the wrapping paper to reveal a small Gucci shoe box, and in typical pro-wrestling fashion that’s where the swerve comes, as 37-year-old Brandi reaches in the box to reveal a wooden ornament which reads: ‘We’re expecting a NEW BABY June 2021.’

The two kiss as the camera pans to their precious Siberian husky Pharaoh who is wearing a camouflage kerchief  which reads: ‘Baby security (in training).’

Brandi also took to Twitter to share two images: a selfie of her holding up the positive pregnancy test and another of she and Cody together.

Of the big reveal, Brandi – real name Brandi Alexis Runnels – told People on Thursday: ‘Cody and I are so excited and overwhelmed by this news.

She was also previously a castmember on reality series WAGS Atlanta which aired on E! 

Cody comes from one of the most legendary families in pro-wrestling as his father ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes was considered to be one of the greatest pro-wrestlers, bookers, and trainers of all-time while his half brother Dustin Runnels is one of the most memorable pro-wrestlers of all-time best known for his work as Goldust in the WWE.

In January 2019, he alongside brothers Matt and Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks tag team along with Kenny Omega announced new promotion All Elite Wrestling as they each serve as Executive Vice Presidents and the first on-air talents signed to the company.

AEW is funded by entrepreneurs Shahid Khan and his son Tony with the former serving as the lead investor and the latter being the president and CEO of the promotion.

The company has already made waves in the pro-wrestling world and is shaping up to be a rival to the WWE as weekly Wednesday night program AEW Dynamite premiered on TNT on October 2, 2019 and has had impressive ratings ever since.
