ABC’s wholesome social experiment Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds returns to screens for season two

ABC’s award-winning reality show Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds is returning for a second season.

The wholesome and ‘life-changing’ social experiment, narrated by Annabel Crabb, will premiere on ABC TV and iview on April 6 at 8.30pm.

The AACTA Award-winning program sees elderly people spend time with pre-school children as experts observe what they learn from each other.

The different generational groups take part in activities together, with the aim of determining if the health and happiness of older adults will improve.

But unlike the first season, the seniors are now living in their own homes instead of a retirement home.

A trailer for the new season shows the adorable children and the elderly folk playing games, dressing up and talking to each other.

An apprehensive older gentleman tells a producer: ‘I’ve got no preconceived notion of how to treat a four-year-old.’ 

One of the experts says: ‘We can’t reverse old age, but we can reverse frailty.’

Another expert says they didn’t give the older participants anti-depressants but instead lifted their spirits through ‘interaction with children’. 

‘Staying mentally active can improve brain function,’ they say.

In the show, which is based on a British format of the same name, the participants develop friendships with each other and with their families.
